A number of oil, financial & manufacturing MNC companies led by the British &
U.S. Embassy appointed 5 leading Primary Care doctors: 2 Family Medicine Doctor,
Internist/ Neurologist, Ob-Gyn, and a Pediatrician to establish “The British Medical
Scheme” to manage and coordinate the medical care of 900 staff and their families.>
The clinic started with a modest lab, a mobile x-ray, a nursing area, an Urgent Care station
and 3 physician consultation rooms. The “managed care out-patient clinic” opened
only for Corporate Members and their families
Medikaloka chose a Swiss Company, the International SOS, to collaborate in a corporate
healthcare program to assist the funding companies’ diverse needs in occupational
medical assistance from mining to manufacturing to financials.
The Clinic name was changed to “Medikaloka” a Sanskrit term which means “
A Place of Health.” The clinic moved to a bigger place in Kuningan Plaza to include
a minor surgery, observation rooms and a dental room. The clinic members reached 2000 families.
The Japan Overseas Medical Fund (JOMF) under the guidance of the Jakarta Japan Club &
Japanese Embassy chose Medikaloka to become the clinic for the Japanese community in Jakarta.
Rosai Hospital of Yokohama becomes the training hospital for nurses and a referral hospital for
cancer.
The founding primary care physicians invited a group of multi-discipline specialist and
dentists and expanded the dental clinic. University of Minnesota Hospital was chosen to
become the CME partner and main admitting Hospital in U.S., mainly for Cardiovascular Disorder
patients.
Indonesia economy grew and Medikaloka members reached 4000 families. In co-operation with SOS
International established remote-site physicians services.
With the U.S. and Australian Embassy established a protocol for statutory immigration health
assessment and to establish a network of primary care panel doctors for the two embassies.
SOS international was acquired by AEA in NYSE and grew separately to become an assistance and
medical evacuation company. The clinic moved its location to Graha Irama and purchased the
building’s 1st and 2nd Floor.
World Bank, ASEAN, European Union Commission and all the UN entities established and appointed
Medikaloka as the exclusive medical provider and coordinator for medical assistance needs –
health screenings, vaccinations and remote-clinic development for their projects
Asian economic crisis. Social riots. Most expatriates fled the country, the pioneer doctors
took over ownership of the clinic from the funding companies.
Medikaloka gradually opened its clinic for non-members and began to assist more companies with
the appointment of on-site doctor and the provision of on-site health care
The Founding Primary Care Doctors purchased the clinic from the funding companies.
Establishment of FGP associates and its mission to spread quality primary care to Indonesians
by the establishment of corporate physicians network in corporate entities.
Introduction of “Evidence Based Medical Standards” as a the clinical practice guidelines.
Regeneration healthcare staff, standardization and computerization of the clinical operations. A decade
of collaboration between JOMF and Medikaloka.
Formally integrated “health assistance” into the company mission to fulfill market needs for
services such as 24Hr home visit, First Aid Training, Home Care and International Medical Referral
Assistance.
Partnership with National Heart Center of Singapore as the chosen CME Centers in Asia for Medikaloka
primary care doctors and cardiologists; and the main regional referral hospital for Cardiovascular
disorder patients
Further expansion of FGP associates through Corporate Physician CME program and the establishment
of Mobile Doctor posts in Bandung & Surabaya. The associate members will reach 50 by December 2005
covering Jakarta to Surabaya.
